This event was organized by the movement disorders subspeciality of department of neurology, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bengaluru on behalf of the Indian Rare Movement Disorders Consortium. The event was also endorsed by the Movement Disorders Society of India (MDSI) apart from MDS. This was a 2.5 days event which started with the first session of clinical
and genetic overview of rare movement disorders (RMDs) followed by a session of mitochondrial and other neurometabolic RMDs. Subsequent sessions were dedicated to different phenomenology-based approaches i.e. genetic dystonia, genetic parkinsonism, genetic ataxia, genetic chorea, RMDs in systemic genetic disorders, and genetic myoclonus, tremor and spastic RMDs. Each of these phenomenology-based session had 2-3 didactic lectures followed by interactive video case-based discussion consisting 3-4 cases per session. Last day sessions were focused on therapeutic strategies in RMDs, genetic counselling and the day ended by a panel discussion on role of MDS-AOS, MDSI in RMD in MDS-AOS region, research and training in RMDs, and advocacy and support groups for RMDs. In total there were 30 lectures and 6 interactive video based case discussions (3-4 cases each session). In addition to these, there was a grand rounds session on day one where the two MDS sponsored faculty and another two senior Indian faculty examined and discussed four live cases. On day-2 there was an interactive quiz for all the delegates. There was poster presentation as well on day one afternoon.

A total of close 220 attendees registered for the event among which there were close to 40 speakers and 23 chairpersons and the remaining were delegates. Among the delegates, the majority were residents pursuing either DM Neurology or post-doctoral fellowship in neurology. In addition, there were basic science researchers, PhDs, geneticists, and pediatric and general medicine residents as well
among the registered delegates.
