The NIMHANS Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders subspeciality actively attempts to provide patients with movement disorders and their caregivers resources which aid in better understanding of their illness and strategies to cope with the disease. We are supported by a dedicated team from the Dept. of Psychiatric Social Work who provide psychosocial services and aid in disability services. Annual Parkinson’s day programs are conducted wherein patients with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers, are educated about the illness, and exposed to a wide range of non-pharmacological therapies such as yoga, dance, music, etc. Apart from this, comprehensive care programs with consultations from the departments of neurosurgery, physiotherapy, speech pathology and audiology, etc. In addition, patient care programs are routinely held as part of our conferences.
